Whitehall Garden Centres raises over £2000 to provide magical gardens for children’s hospices
Whitehall Garden Centres have proudly presented a cheque today totalling £2,370.73 to the charity ‘Greenfingers’ which creates magical garden spaces for children’s hospices.
As part of the national ‘Garden Re-leaf Day’ event, staff from our Lacock & Whitchurch Centres organised a number of fundraising activities including a wishing tree and children’s craft activities, where customers purchased a leaf and wrote their wish on it to place on our cherry tree. A raffle was also held to win a garden themed hamper full of goodies, and for every hot drink and special Greenfingers cupcake bought in the restaurants, plus every Clematis Michiko plant purchased, £1 from each was donated to the cause.
Speaking of the event, Peter Self, Director of Whitehall Garden Centres said: "Whitehall Garden Centres are passionate about supporting the local community, and this opportunity to help provide beautiful garden spaces to some very special children was close to our hearts and something that all of our staff were so enthusiastic to support."

Whitehall celebrate the opening of its latest garden centre at Woodborough with a ‘FREE Pick Your Own Daffodils’ event
‘Whitehall’ is a local family run business with its farming roots dating back to 1894, and boasts over 47 years of garden retail experience at the award winning Lacock and Whitchurch centres in Wiltshire and Bristol.
The newly refurbished centre at Woodborough will offer everything that was previously available and more, including high quality plants, pick your own fruits and daffodils, a delightful farm shop, giftware, petting animals, free parking, a beautifully restored tea room and bistro; aptly named ‘Strawberry Fields’, and of course later in the year a festive grotto. On that note, to celebrate the launch, there will be a ‘FREE Pick Your Own Daffodils’ event running from Thursday 23 March until Mothering Sunday on the 26th.
It’s great news on the job front too as all of the existing staff are continuing their roles, and a number of new full and part-time vacancies have been created including customer services, plant and restaurant assistants.
Peter & Claire Self, Directors of Whitehall said: “Community spirit and engagement is at the very heart of our business operations, we understand just how important the former Woodborough centre was and is to the local community.
This much loved garden centre was a popular venue for visitors all year round, however, for it to continue providing this service, the building, grounds and resident animals were in real need of attention and care.
Whitehall took ownership of the site in February 2017, and in just a matter of weeks will have totally refurbished the site, thus being able to provide a wonderful visitor experience again.
We are proud to be growing our centres across the South West and fulfilling not just the interests of gardeners, but providing a great day out for the whole family. Children, animal fans, foodies, shoppers and coffee connoisseurs will all be able to enjoy the ‘Whitehall’ experience, so the Whitehall team look forward to welcoming you to our new centre at Woodborough from the 23 March 2017.”
