WHITEHALL GARDEN CENTRE, LACOCK, WILTSHIRE
Redevelopment planning application no. 15/10446/FUL
"Request for Support"
Dear Customers, Colleagues & Friends,
Please refer to the link at the bottom of this letter to view our proposed plans for the exciting redevelopment of our family owned independent Garden Centre business.
Planning permission was granted in 2008 and subsequently renewed in 2012, for the redevelopment and expansion of the Garden Centre at Lacock.
We have reviewed the redevelopment scheme approved in 2008, and concluded the safety and efficiency of the site is now not fit for purpose.
Looking at the levels of competition, customer expectations and the future of our business, we have redesigned the plans taking into consideration, the environment, potential for local businesses and employment.
The proposed new plans provide a level platform throughout the centre, which will allow for an easier access for customers using wheelchairs, pushchairs and (potentially heavy) wheeled trolleys.
In terms of the design concept, the buildings have been modelled on 'Tithe barns' with the use of good quality natural materials to complement the type of buildings found in the Cotswolds and within the village of Lacock.
The plans show extensive parking will be provided; including 360 spaces in the new main car park (including 35 assisted/special needs spaces), with 180 overflow spaces, 5 coach parking bays and 10 customer collection spaces, as well as 75 employee car parking spaces, 3 of these being allocated for disabled use.
These are challenging and exciting times. The customer expectation is getting even greater, the competition is becoming price driven and moving online, and as a family business we are endeavouring to be intuitive and build on the hard work built up by past generations of our family, to further develop the business, serve the local community, visitors to Wiltshire and to protect the employment of our current and future employees.
